Syria, Seleukis and Pieria. Laodikeia ad Mare. 1st century B.C Æ (17 mm, 5.05 g, 12 h). Year 3 of the Caesarean Era (46/5 B.C.). ΛΑΟ-ΔΙΚΕ[ΩΝ], youthful head of Dionysos right, wreathed with ivy / [ΙΟΥ]ΛΙΕΩ[Ν] ΤΩΝ ΚΑΙ, scorpion. RPC 4415; HGC 9, 1411 (this coin illus.); DCA 576 (this coin illus.). Very rare - RPC cites just two specimens of this date. Black patina with light orange-earthen deposits. Very fine.
